Biography

Kenyon Phillips is a Licensed Master Social Worker with an MSW from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Services and a BA in English from Wesleyan University. After 20+ years as a writer, musician, actor, emcee, podcaster, and marketing creative (during which he shared the stage and screen with the likes of Lou Reed and Amy Poehler and oversaw marketing for artists like Madonna and Alicia Keys), Kenyon transitioned into clinical social work to align passion with purpose. His journey is rooted in 25+ years of lived experience with 12-Step recovery; the creation of Be Here Tomorrow, a mental health podcast that he started after the birth of his first child in 2018; and the 2021 cofounding of CENTER, a Connecticut-based healing arts organization dedicated to integrative wellness through workshops and retreats. Together, these experiences inspired Kenyon to become a therapist.

During two years of field placement in Southern Connecticut—first at New Reach in New Haven and then at MCCA in Danbury—Kenyon supported individuals, families, and groups navigating substance use and mental health challenges as well as homelessness and job insecurity. It was at this time that Kenyon developed and facilitated a trauma-informed dance/movement therapy (DMT) program for children, adolescents, and adults that combines guided meditation, mirroring, character embodiment, and free-form movement to teach body-based coping and self-soothing strategies for managing what he calls “D.R.A.M.A.”: damage, rejection, anger, moodiness, and anxiety.

Kenyon’s clinical toolkit includes CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed approaches, which he integrates with creative modalities like DMT and mindfulness. Beyond clinical work, Kenyon brings a breadth of professional skills in public speaking, training, program development, writing, and creative direction—allowing him to design and deliver interventions that are evidence-based, creative, body-centered, and deeply engaging. From individual counseling to group work, he is always looking for new opportunities to meet clients where they are—and to help individuals and communities heal, connect, and thrive.
